AimOn the Zen's screen: POLAR AIM

Polar Aim Assist

Spins the right stick in a tiny circle on top of your own aim while you aim or fire.

What it does

Polar Aim Assist moves your right stick in a small circle, over and over, on top of what you're doing with the stick yourself. Players use it to keep a game's built-in aim assist engaged; how well that works depends on the game.

The circle's size is RADIUS percent of the stick's full tilt. Each cycle (about every 10 ms) it turns by SPEED degrees, so at the default 20 one full circle takes 18 cycles, about 0.18 seconds.

You choose when it runs with ACTIVE ON. You can also make it bigger while firing (FIRE BOOST), stretch it sideways (WIDTH), shrink it while you move the stick yourself (DYNAMIC) and flip its direction (DIRECTION).

It's added after Anti-Recoil and Progressive Anti-Recoil, so the circle goes on top of their pull instead of being wiped out by it.

When it runs

Set by ACTIVE ON: while you hold L2, while you hold R2, or while you hold either (the default). It stops as soon as you let go.

Settings

In the order the Zen shows them. Each label is exactly what you'll see on its screen.

  1. 1.

    ENABLED

    Values
    OFF or ON
    Default
OFF, unless you turned on “Default ON” for this mod in the generator.

Switches the mod on or off. The screen shows ON or OFF; press D-pad left or right to flip it.

  2. 2.

    RADIUS

    Per profile
    Range
    1 to 30
    Default
    10
    Unit
    %
    Each press
    ±1

The circle's size, in percent of the stick's full tilt. It has to be a little bigger than the game's stick deadzone, or the game won't notice it.

    • Raise it: A bigger circle: more movement and more visible shake.
    • Lower it: A smaller, steadier circle. Too small and the game ignores it.
  3. 3.

    SPEED

    Range
    5 to 90
    Default
    20
    Unit
    degrees
    Each press
    ±1

How many degrees the circle turns each cycle (about 10 ms). 360 degrees is one full circle.

    • Raise it: A faster spin. At 90 a full circle takes 4 cycles, about 0.04 seconds.
    • Lower it: A slower spin. At 5 a full circle takes 72 cycles, about 0.7 seconds.
  4. 4.

    ACTIVE ON

    Range
    0 to 2
    Default
    2
    Each press
    ±1

    When the circle runs.

    • 0While you aim (hold L2).
    • 1While you fire (hold R2).
    • 2While you aim or fire. This is the default.
  5. 5.

    FIRE BOOST

    Range
    0 to 30
    Default
    0
    Unit
    %
    Each press
    ±1

Extra circle size while you hold R2, added to RADIUS. 0 is off. It applies whenever you fire, whatever ACTIVE ON is set to.

    • Raise it: A bigger circle while you shoot.
    • Lower it: Less extra size while you shoot. At 0 the circle is the same size whether you shoot or not.
  6. 6.

    WIDTH

    Range
    50 to 150
    Default
    100
    Unit
    %
    Each press
    ±1

The circle's width compared with its height. 100 is a round circle.

    • Raise it: Above 100 the circle gets wider: more side-to-side movement, the same up and down.
    • Lower it: Below 100 it gets narrower: less side-to-side movement, the same up and down.
  7. 7.

    DYNAMIC

    Range
    0 to 100
    Default
    0
    Unit
    %
    Each press
    ±1

Shrinks the circle while you move the right stick yourself, using whichever direction you push most. 0 is off. At 100 the circle is gone at full tilt; at 50 it's half size at full tilt.

    • Raise it: Shrinks more as you aim, so big aim movements stay clean.
    • Lower it: Keeps the circle closer to full size while you move the stick.
  8. 8.

    DIRECTION

    Range
    0 to 1
    Default
    0
    Each press
    ±1

    Which way the circle spins.

    • 0Clockwise. This is the default.
    • 1Counter-clockwise.

Tune it in-game

Mods pause while the menu is open, so close it each time you want to test a change, then open it again to adjust.

  1. Hold L2 and press OPTIONS to open the menu.

  2. Press D-pad up or down until the screen shows POLAR AIM, then press Cross.

  3. On ENABLED, press D-pad right so it shows ON.

  4. Set ACTIVE ON to when you want it: 0 for aiming, 1 for firing, 2 for both.

  5. Leave RADIUS at 10 and SPEED at 20 for your first test.

  6. Close the menu, aim at a target and watch the reticle. If you can't see it move, the circle may be inside the game's deadzone: raise RADIUS by 1 or 2.

  7. If the shake is too much, lower RADIUS until it's just enough.

  8. Then try SPEED, in steps of 5, testing each time.

  9. Optional: add FIRE BOOST for a bigger circle while shooting, DYNAMIC if the circle gets in the way when you follow a moving target, and WIDTH for more side-to-side movement.

  10. When you're happy, hold L2 and press OPTIONS to close the menu. Your settings save to the Zen.

Weapon profiles

With weapon profiles on, hold L2 and press D-pad left or right to switch profile. On Polar Aim Assist, these settings have their own value in each profile:

  • RADIUS
  • In the generator, turn on Weapon profiles and name 2 or 3 profiles, for example one per gun. The settings marked “Per profile” then get their own value in each profile.
  • In-game, with the menu closed, hold L2 and press D-pad right for the next profile or D-pad left for the one before. The Zen shows PROFILE and the profile's name for a moment and gives a short rumble.
  • The menu always edits the active profile. On these mods the bottom right of the Zen's screen shows the active profile's name, so you know which one you're changing.
  • To tune a gun: switch to its profile, open the menu, change the values, then close the menu. Repeat for the next gun.
  • The Zen remembers which profile you were on, even after a restart. While you hold L2, D-pad left and right switch profiles and don't reach the game.
  • Each per-profile setting uses one save slot per profile. The Zen has 20, and the generator shows how many your build uses. Past 20, settings still work but go back to their built-in values when the Zen restarts.

Tips and conflicts

  • Change one setting at a time and test it before you change the next.
  • With ACTIVE ON at 1 it only runs while you fire, so FIRE BOOST is always added.
  • DYNAMIC looks at your own stick, not at the recoil pull, so Anti-Recoil doesn't shrink the circle.
  • Anti-Recoil and Progressive Anti-Recoil work with it: the circle is added on top of their pull.

Conflicts

  • Aim Assist (Sticky) also moves the right stick while you aim. The two stack, so use one, or lower both (RADIUS here and STRENGTH there).

Build it in the generator

Switch on Polar Aim Assist under Mods, set your starting values (and Default ON if you want it on from the start), then download your script. You can still change every value on the Zen afterwards.
